A photographer and filmmaker, Tala Hadid made her first feature-length documentary, Sacred Poet, on Pier Paolo Pasolini, in 1996. Her films have screened at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival, and have also been presented at the Museum of Modern Art and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City; the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis; the Cinémathèque Française in Paris; the Smithsonian Museum and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC; the Los Angeles County Museum; and the Photographer’s Gallery in London. Her films have received numerous prizes, including a Student Academy Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for her short film Your Dark Hair Ihsan (2005). Hadid’s work is included in the Ruben Bentsov Moving Image Collection at the Walker Art Center.
