Boris Lojkine
Director

After directing two documentary films in Vietnam about the memory of the war – Ceux qui restent (2001) and Les Âmes errantes (2005) – Boris Lojkine immersed himself in questions of migration in Africa, where he directed Hope (2014), his first feature-length fiction film, which he made with non-professional actors from the migrant communities of Morocco. The film had its premiere at the Festival de Cannes in the Semaine de la Critique, where it won the Grand Rail d’Or, and went on to be screened at numerous festivals around the world.
Shot in the Central African Republic, Lojkine’s second fiction feature, Camille (2019), had its premiere at the Locarno Festival, where it took the Piazza Grande Audience Award.
The production of Camille led to Lojkine’s launching filmmaking training courses in the Central African Republic, and he is now working with Makongo Films to support the emergence of a new generation of Central African filmmakers.
