After studies at the conservatories in Tunis and Paris, in 2015 Amine Bouhafa was awarded the César for Best Original Score as well as the France Musique-Sacem Grand Prize for Music Composition for Film for Abderrahmane Sissako’s Timbuktu (2014). The same year, Souleymane Cissé’s Oka (2015), for which Bouhafa composed the score, was an Official Selection of the Festival de Cannes. Two years later, he wrote the music for Philippe Faucon’s Amin (2018) and for Kaouther Ben Hania’s Beauty and the Dogs (2017), which was selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes and won the prize for best sound. Bouhafa went on to compose the scores for Alaa Eddine Aljem’s The Unknown Saint (2019), which screened in the Semaine de la Critique at Cannes; for Mehdi Barsaoui’s A Son (2019), which was selected for the Venice Film Festival; and for Amjad Abualala’s You Will Die at Twenty (2019), winner of the Lion of the Future at Venice. Most recently, he scored Ben Hania’s The Man Who Sold His Skin (2020), which was selected for Venice’s Orizzonti section, and co-wrote the music for Fanny Liattard and Jérémy Trouilh’s Gagarine (2020), which received the official Cannes label.
