The Atlas Workshops launches its call for projects in development and films in production or post-production by filmmakers from the Arab world and the African continent who are working on their first, second or third feature-length film.

The Atlas Workshops is an industry and talent-development programme initiated by the Marrakech International Film Festival in 2018 with the support of Netflix. The mission of the workshops is to work side by side with a new generation of Moroccan, Arab and African filmmakers, as well as to create a space for exchange between international professionals and regional talents.

The fourth edition of the Atlas Workshops will take place end of 2021; the exact dates will be announced later. The event offers participants the opportunity to present their projects in development and films in production or post-production via a co-production market that allows them to meet with international professionals. The participating projects compete for awards with a total cash value of €56.000.

Participants benefit from personalised mentoring prior to the Atlas Workshops events, tailored to the individual needs of each project with regard to scriptwriting, production, distribution, editing and/or scoring.

To be eligible for the 2021 Atlas Workshops, filmmakers must:

1/ Reside in or be a member of the diaspora of the Arab world or the African continent

2/ Have a project in development or a film in production or post-production that is a first, second or third feature-length narrative, documentary or animated film (minimum length 60 minutes), and have previously made at least one short or feature-length film

3/ Have a production company attached to the project at the time of application

Further notes for projects from Morocco:

- Filmmakers from Morocco are invited to register with projects in development or films in production or post-production. The selection committee reserves the right to determine the project’s inclusion in the official selection of the Atlas Workshops or in the Atlas Close-Ups programme, which is dedicated solely to Moroccan projects and films
