The Atlas Workshops is an industry and talent-development programme initiated in 2018 by the Marrakech International Film Festival. Through the programme, the Festival works side by side with a new generation of Moroccan, Arab and African filmmakers, and creates a space for exchange between international professionals and regional talents.

The 6th edition takes place in Marrakech from Nov 27-30, 2023.

The Mother of All lies by Asmae El Moudir, winner of the Atlas Workshops Development Award in 2019 and the Post-Production Award in 2021, wins the Directing Prize at the Un certain regard section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Hounds by Kamal Lazraq, winner of the ArteKino International Prize in 2019, wins the Jury Prize at the Un certain regard section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Queens by Yasmine Benkiran, presented in development at the first edition of the Atlas Workshops, and in the 2021 Films in production or post-production section, is selected at the Venice International Film Critics' Week.

The Damned Don't Cry by Fyzal Boulifa, presented in development at the first edition of the Atlas Workshops in 2018, is selected in competition at the Venice Days.

Fragments from Heaven by Adnane Baraka, presented at the Atlas Workshops 2020 Films in production or post-production section, is selected at the Locarno Film Festival.

Under The Fig Trees by Erige Sehiri, winner of the Post-production Prize of the Atlas Workshops in 2021, was selected at the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival.

Youssef Chebbi's Ashkal, presented at the development section of the Workshops in 2019, was selected at the Directors' Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival.

Feathers by Omar El Zohairy, winner of the Post-production Prize of the Atlas Workshops in 2020, wins Nespresso Grand Prize and FIPRESCI Prize at La Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Film Festival

The Gravedigger’s Wife by Khadar Ahmed, winner of the Post-production Prize of the Atlas Workshops in 2019, is selected in competition at La Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Film Festival. The film is produced by Misha Jaari.

Feathers by Omar El Zohairy, winner of the Post-production Prize of the Atlas Workshops in 2020, is selected in competition at La Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Film Festival. The film is produced by Juliette Lepoutre and Pierre Menahem.

We Are From There by Wissam Tanios, presented at the post-production section of the Workshops in 2018, was awarded Best Arab Film and Best Non-Fiction Film at Cairo International Film Festival.

Karima Saïdi’s A Way Home, presented at the post-production section of the Workshops in 2018, was selected for the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam.

Mohamed Saïd Ouma’s Comorian documentary Red Card, presented at the post-production section of the Workshops in 2019, was selected for the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam.

Downstream to Kinshasa by Dieudo Hamadi, part of Atlas Films Showcase in 2019, was awarded the Cannes 2020 label, becoming the first Congolese film to be selected by the festival.

Zanka Contact by Ismaël El Iraki, winner of the Atlas post-production prize in 2019, had its world premiere in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival, where it was awarded the best actress prize.

The 3rd edition of the Atlas Workshops will take place online from 30 November to 3 December 2020.
